A resolution recognizing and congratulating Brandt Snedeker of Nashville on playing in the Masters Golf Tournament.

WHEREAS, former Montgomery Bell Academy and Vanderbilt golf standout Brandt Snedeker played in his first Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia April 8-11, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Brandt Snedeker’s collegiate career was highlighted by numerous honors, including becoming a First-team All-American at Vanderbilt University and the 2003 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year; and

WHERAS, in July 2003, Brandt Snedeker defeated Dayton Rose to take the 2003 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, which won him an invitation to play in the 2004 Masters Tournament; and

WHEREAS, during the first round of the Masters, Brandt Snedeker birdied all three holes of the treacherous “Amen Corner” going on to post a 1-over-par score of 73; and

WHEREAS, Brandt Snedeker was one of only two amateurs to make the cut at the 2004 Masters enabling him to play with the best golfers in the world on Saturday and Sunday in Augusta; and

WHEREAS, over four days of grueling competition, Brandt Snedeker performed with courage and determination; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Brandt Snedeker for his dedication, determination and remarkable endeavors in the sport of golf.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating Brandt Snedeker of Nashville on playing in the Masters Golf Tournament

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerks Office is directed to prepare a hand-lettered scroll to be presented to Brandt Snedeker.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
