A resolution recognizing the National Hockey League Nashville Predators.

WHEREAS, the Nashville Predators Hockey Team enjoyed unprecedented franchise success, setting team records for wins, points and goals in the 2003-2004 season: and

WHEREAS, the Nashville Predators recently wrapped up a successful season making the NHL Western Conference playoffs for the first time in there 6-year franchise history; and

WHEREAS, the Predators first playoff appearance was against the Detroit Red Wings, with all six playoff games being televised nationally; and

WHEREAS, owner Craig Leipold is to be commended for making the commitment to provide Nashville and all of Tennessee with a competitive and winning organization; and

WHEREAS, Coach Barry Trotz, the first and only coach in franchise history, together with the assistant coaches, are to be commended for providing the leadership and direction to this most successful season; and

WHEREAS, all team members on the Predators, led by captain Greg Johnson and all-stars Tomas Vokoun and Kimmo Timonen, are to be commended for their hard work, outstanding effort and performance during this successful season both on and off the ice; and

WHEREAS, the excitement created by the success of the Nashville Predators has brought unprecedented unity to the Nashville community with terrific fan support, including a Nashville record crowd of 17,329 for game six of the playoffs, from people regardless of age, race, sex, creed, national origin, or economic status; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and expresses its support of the Nashville Predators and its appreciation for the support of our team by all of its wonderful fans.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the National Hockey League Nashville Predators.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Nashville Predators Coach Barry Trotz on behalf of the Nashville Predators organization.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
