RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-285

A resolution recognizing and congratulating the students who are graduating from Maplewood Comprehensive High School, Class of 2004.

WHEREAS, the students who are graduating from Maplewood High School will receive their diploma on Wednesday, May 19, 2004, in the Gentry Center at Tennessee State University; and

WHEREAS, in 1956, the doors opened at Maplewood Comprehensive High School with 13 teachers and 404 enrolled students which has grown today to an enrollment of approximately 1200 students; and

WHEREAS, through diligent study, steady composure during examinations, and steadfast commitment of time and talent the graduating students from Maplewood Comprehensive High School have achieved outstanding academic success, and have joined the ranks of the best and brightest students in the community; and

WHEREAS, with hard work and determination they have strived for and attained the goal set before them years ago when they began their formal education, and have successfully completed the course of study required to earn them their high school diploma from Maplewood Comprehensive High School; and

WHEREAS, these students are honored for the years of dedication, their pursuit of excellence, and studious work which has proven their exceptional ability within the realm of knowledge and are clearly deserving of the respect and admiration of this legislative body; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the students from the 2004 Class of Maplewood Comprehensive High School, and congratulate them on their high school graduation, salute their numerous accomplishments and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record recognizing and congratulating the students who are graduating from Maplewood Comprehensive High School, Class of 2004.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to the graduating students of Maplewood Comprehensive High School.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
