A resolution recognizing and congratulating Goodlettsville Elementary School principal, Ricky W. Binkley on being named the 2004-2005 “Elementary School Principal of the Year” for the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

WHEREAS, Ricky W. Binkley, principal at Goodlettsville Elementary, has devoted his career to providing the highest quality education for Tennessee’s students and is well deserving of this recognition; and

WHEREAS, a native Nashvillian, Ricky W. Binkley is a product of the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System; and

WHEREAS, upon graduating from David Lipscomb University he then attended Tennessee State University where he earned his Masters of Education degree in 1976. In 1974 he began his educational career teaching before climbing the ladder to interim principal at Brick Church Elementary in 1982; he then served as principal at the following schools: Ross Elementary, Alex Green Elementary, Lakeview Elementary, Amqui Elementary, Old Center Elementary and currently serves as Principal at Goodlettsville Elementary; and

WHEREAS, Ricky W. Binkley brings enthusiasm, energy and a strong leadership role to Goodlettsville Elementary and has led schools through the rigorous accreditation process for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and

WHEREAS, in addition to receiving several awards and recognition for his work as a teacher and in his role as a principal, Ricky W. Binkley has devoted countless hours of his time being actively involved within the Madison and Goodlettsville communities; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Ricky W. Binkley on receiving the “Principal of the Year” award and commends him on his exceptional service to his staff, faculty, students and community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating Goodlettsville Elementary School principal, Ricky W. Binkley on being named the 2004-2005 “Elementary School Principal of the Year” for the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Principal Ricky W. Binkley of Goodlettsville Elementary.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
