A resolution recognizing and congratulating Glencliff High School principal, Dr. Sammy V. Swor, Jr., on being named the 2004-2005 “High School Principal of the Year” for the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

WHEREAS, Dr. Sammy V. Swor, Jr., has served with distinction for nearly twelve years as principal of Glencliff High School, devoting his career to providing the highest quality of education for Tennessee’s students and is well deserving of this recognition; and

WHEREAS, a native of Nashville, Dr. Sammy V. Swor, Jr., is a product of the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Swor earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and furthered his education by receiving his Doctor of Education degree from Tennessee State University; and

WHEREAS, he began his educational career in 1968 as a science teacher at Ewing Park Junior High School before advancing into the schools administration in 1984, serving as Assistant Principal at Madison High School, and in 1986 he began his excellent term at Glencliff High School first as an Assistant Principal before being named Executive Principal in 1992; and

WHEREAS, throughout his illustrious tenure, especially as Principal of Glencliff High School, Dr. Swor has demonstrated the utmost professionalism, enthusiasm, strong leadership and dedication by providing quality education to a diverse population of students; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Swor, is involved in several professional organizations in addition to receiving several awards and recognition for his work while seeking ways to encourage students to complete their high school education; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Dr. Sammy V. Swor, Jr., on receiving the “High School Principal of the Year” award and commends him for his exceptional service to his staff, faculty, students and community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating Glencliff High School principal, Dr. Sammy V. Swor, Jr., on being named the 2004-2005 “High School Principal of the Year” for the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Principal Dr. Sammy V. Swor, Jr., of Glencliff High School.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
