RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-281

A resolution recognizing and congratulating Bailey Middle School teacher, Leah Crowder Tolbert on being named the 2004-2005 “Middle School Teacher of the Year” for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

WHEREAS, Leah Crowder Tolbert, educator at Bailey Middle School, has devoted her career to providing the highest quality education for Tennessee’s students and is well deserving of this recognition; and

WHEREAS, a native Nashvillian, Leah Crowder Tolbert is a product of the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System and comes from a family of educators; and

WHEREAS, upon graduating from David Lipscomb University, she began her educational career teaching at Old Center Elementary School, then moving to Jere Baxter Middle School before coming to Bailey Middle School to teach Language Arts; and

WHEREAS, Leah Crowder Tolbert brings enthusiasm and energy to her students, has an excellent repertoire of teaching strategies, creativity, innovation, and vision that has brought invaluable assets to not only the classroom but to Bailey Middle School; and

WHEREAS, she has received several awards and recognitions during her teaching career by causing other students to strive for excellence; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Leah Crowder Tolbert on receiving the “Middle School Teacher of the Year” award and commend her exceptional service to her students, salute her professional expertise and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating Bailey Middle School teacher, Leah Crowder Tolbert on being named the 2004-2005 “Middle School Teacher of the Year” for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Leah Crowder Tolbert.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
