RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-259

A resolution authorizing the Director of Finance to accept and allocate private sector funds in the amount of $1,087,500.00 for the purposes of marketing and promoting Nashville and appropriating that same amount in public matching funds for the same purposes pursuant to the provisions of Substitute Bill No. BL2003-1471.

WHEREAS, Substitute Bill No. BL2003-1471 was enacted by the Metropolitan Council on June 24, 2003 authorizing the Director of Finance to allocate certain funds from the balance of the Hotel Motel Occupancy Tax Fund subject to a dollar for dollar match from private sector funds and further authorizing the Director of Finance to accept and allocate such private sector funds; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to Substitute Bill No. BL2003-1471, said private sector funds and public matching funds are to be allocated for the purposes of marketing and promoting Nashville; and

WHEREAS, the private organizations listed below have agreed to contribute cash donations totaling $1,087,500.00 for these purposes; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to Substitute Bill No. BL2003-1471, said private sector funds and public matching funds may be accepted and allocated for these purposes by means of a resolution of Council;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: The Director of Finance is hereby authorized to accept and allocate these private sector funds in the total amount of $1,087,500.00 for the purposes of marketing and promoting Nashville:

Section 2: The Director of Finance is hereby further authorized to allocate said private funds as well as public matching funds of $1,087,500.00, for a total of $2,175,000.00, to the Nashville Convention and Visitors’ Bureau for the purposes of marketing and promoting Nashville.

Section 3: This resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
