A resolution authorizing the compromise and settlement of the claims of Loretta Laury and her husband Vincent Laury against the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the amount of $50,000., and directing that this amount be paid from the Self Insured Liability Fund.
Whereas, a lawsuit based on claims of physical and emotional pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, and permanent partial impairment, was filed by the plaintiffs in the Eighth Circuit Court for Davidson County, Tennessee; and,
Whereas, after investigation, the Department of Law believes the settlement amount as set forth in Section 1 below is fair and reasonable, and recommends that this case be compromised and settled, and that said amount be paid from the Self Insured Liability Fund.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:
Section 1. The Department of Law is authorized to compromise and settle the lawsuit styled, Loretta Laury and her husband Vincent Laury v. Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the Davidson County Sheriffs Department, No. 01C-1826 in the Eighth Circuit Court for Davidson County, Tennessee, for the total sum of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) to settle this case, and directing that this amount be paid from the Self Insured Liability Fund.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
