RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-229

A resolution requesting the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and the Metropolitan Department of Public Works to consolidate their brush collection and chipper services.

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works provides brush and leaf collection to Davidson County residents; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works uses a route system for the collection of brush whereby brush is automatically collected at certain times every year; and

WHEREAS, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office also maintains brush collection equipment and provides chipper service using inmates at the County workhouse; and

WHEREAS, to avoid a duplication of efforts and ensure that the chipper service is provided as efficiently as possible to residents of Nashville and Davidson County, it is fitting and proper that the Department of Public Works and the Sheriff’s Office consolidate their brush collection and chipper services.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and the Metropolitan Department of Public Works to consolidate their brush collection and chipper services.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to Sheriff Daron Hall and to Billy Lynch, the Director of the Department of Public Works.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Mr. President:

I move to amend Resolution No. RS2004-229 by deleting the phrase “consolidate their brush collection and chipper services”, wherein it appears in the caption, the fourth recital clause, and in Section 1, and substituting in lieu thereof the phrase “coordinate their brush collection and chipper service efforts”.
