A resolution requesting the Vice Mayor to establish a Council subcommittee on solid waste.
WHEREAS, various solid waste issues continue to impact the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, including brush collection, recycling, and the recently-issued Request for Proposals (RFP) for the collection of solid waste within the Urban Services District; and
WHEREAS, it is important that the Council take a proactive role regarding the solid waste issues affecting Nashville and Davidson County; and
WHEREAS, the Vice Mayor has the authority pursuant to Rule 6 of the Council Rules of Procedure to establish special committees of the Council; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that a Council subcommittee on solid waste be created for this Council term to address solid waste issues in Nashville and Davidson County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan Government hereby goes on record as requesting the Vice Mayor to establish a Council subcommittee on solid waste.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to Vice Mayor Howard Gentry.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
