A resolution recognizing the Tennessee Titans.
WHEREAS, the Tennessee Titans National Football League team enjoyed unprecedented franchise success in the 2003-2004 season; and
WHEREAS, the Tennessee Titans recently wrapped up a 13-5 season making the playoffs for the fourth time in five years; and
WHEREAS, the team boasts the league’s co-MVP Steve McNair, the NFL’s top-rated run defense and will send five players to the Pro Bowl; and
WHEREAS, the five members of the Titans selected to play in the 2004 Pro Bowl; quarterback Steve McNair, wide receiver Derrick Mason, linebacker Keith Bulluck, offensive lineman Brad Hopkins and punter Craig Hentrich; and
WHEREAS, owner Bud Adams is to be commended for making the commitment to provide Nashville and all of Tennessee with a competitive and winning organization; and
WHEREAS, Coach Jeff Fisher, together with the assistant coaches, is to be commended for providing the leadership and direction to this most successful season; and
WHEREAS, all of the team members of the Titans are to be commended for their outstanding effort and performance during this successful season both on and off the football field; and
WHEREAS, the excitement created by the success of the Tennessee Titans has brought unprecedented unity to the Nashville community with terrific fan support from people regardless of age, race, sex, creed, national origin, or economic status; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes
and expresses its support of the Tennessee Titans and its appreciation for
the support of our team by all of its wonderful fans.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT
OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Tennessee Titans.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a printed scroll to be presented to Bud Adams and Jeff Fisher on behalf of the Tennessee Titans.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
