RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-196

A resolution recognizing Tennessee Titan Steve McNair.

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we recognize citizens who through their dedication, determination and commitment to excellence and who embodies the very essence of a Tennessee Titan; and

WHEREAS, no other but Steve McNair of the Tennessee Titans can fulfill that description, having shown himself time and again to be a warrior on the field of play and a true gentleman and compassionate, caring individual in his everyday interactions with his family, friends, and the public; and

WHEREAS, a champion on and off the field, Mr. McNair has succeeded in life by always focusing on his goal when faced with a seemingly insurmountable challenge; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McNair’s hard work has been rewarded not only as a respected and recognized All-Pro quarterback but as the first African American quarterback to win the prestigious Most Valuable Player award by being named Co-MVP in 2003; and

WHEREAS, Steve McNair continues to give back to the Nashville community and the entire State of Tennessee by assisting and lending a hand to numerous charitable organizations and events throughout the State; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Steve McNair for his service to the people of Tennessee, and wish him much continued success with the Tennessee Titans and in all his future endeavors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Tennessee Titan Steve McNair.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Steve McNair.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
