RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-182

A resolution approving a donation from the James Stephen Turner Charitable Foundation to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission, in an amount not to exceed Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00), to research, discuss, and recommend opportunities for art in transit projects.

WHEREAS, the James Stephen Turner Charitable Foundation has made a donation in an amount not to exceed Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00), to research, discuss, and recommend art in transit projects, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission for the generation of transit projects in the Nashville downtown area; and

WHEREAS, Metropolitan Code of Laws §2.112.040(G) allows the Metropolitan Arts Commission to accept funds from other arts organizations by resolution of the Metropolitan Council; and

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this donation be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the donation by the James Stephen Turner Charitable Foundation to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Arts Commission, not to exceed Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00), to research, discuss, and recommend opportunities for art in transit projects, is hereby approved.

SECTION 2. That the fund from this donation be appropriated to Fund 32010 BU 41701000.

SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
