A resolution expressing opposition to the proposed convenience center site on the eastern side of the Nashville State Community College property.

WHEREAS, although there is strong community support in the area of the Nashville State Community College for recycling, and also support for locating a convenience center in the western part of the city, the residents in the surrounding neighborhoods are opposed to the presently proposed site; and

WHEREAS, the homeowners and neighborhood associations in the White Bridge Road area have all gone on record as being opposed to the siting of a convenience center in this residentially zoned area; and

WHEREAS, the following organizations have voted and expressed their opposition: White Bridge Road Neighborhood Association, Lions Head Condominium Owners Association, Cherokee Park Neighborhood Association, Richland West End Neighborhood Association, Hillsboro West End Neighborhood Association, Whitland Area Neighbors Association, Friends of Elmington Park, Woodland West Historic Neighborhood Association, Sylvan Park Neighborhood Association, and Sylvan Heights Neighborhood Association; and

WHEREAS, as this siting will have a negative impact on the greenways and the surrounding White Bridge Road area, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council go on record in opposition to this siting.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as expressing opposition to the proposed convenience center site on the eastern side of the Nashville State Community College property.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the President of Nashville State Community College, the Tennessee Board of Regents, State Senator Douglas Henry, State Representative Gary Odom, Mayor Bill Purcell, Metro Public Works Director Rick Conner, and Metro Parks & Recreation Director Curt Garrigan.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
