A resolution requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to introduce and enact the necessary enabling legislation to allow The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to impose and collect impact fees.
WHEREAS, several areas within Nashville and Davidson County are growing at a rapid pace; and
WHEREAS, such growth, though beneficial to the Metropolitan Government in many ways, imposes a hardship and burden on the present infrastructure and school facilities; and
WHEREAS, the ability to impose impact fees on new development would enable the Metropolitan Government to improve the infrastructure and construct new school buildings or expand existing schools to minimize adverse effects on existing neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly be notified of the wishes of the Metropolitan County Council regarding the ability to impose and collect impact fees on new development.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to introduce and enact the necessary enabling legislation to allow the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to impose and collect impact fees from new development to assist in upgrading the infrastructure and the construction of school buildings.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
