RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-155

A resolution approving a grant not to exceed $3,000,000 from the United States Department of Labor to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Nashville Career Advancement Center (NCAC), to provide high technology skills training in the Nashville area and providing a total of $286,000 in local matching funds.

Whereas, the United States Department of Labor has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed three million dollars ($3,000,000) to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Nashville Career Advancement Center to provide high technology skills training in the Nashville area; and

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted and that $268,000 for use as local matching funds be provided;

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Metropolitan Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant not to exceed three million dollars ($3,000,000) from the United States Department of Labor to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Nashville Career Advancement Center, to provide high technology skills training in the Nashville area, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.
Section 2. That the sum of one hundred twenty-five thousand ($125,000) be provided for fiscal year 2004/2005; the sum of eighty-six thousand dollars ($86,000) be provided for fiscal year 2005/2006; and the sum of seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) be provided for the fiscal year 2006/2007, for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government's matching share.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
