RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-137
A resolution
requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education, Nashville Electric Service,
the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, and the Metropolitan Development
and Housing Agency to provide the Council with information regarding the number,
title, and salary of employees living outside of Davidson County.
WHEREAS, recent information provided by the Metropolitan Department of Human Resources indicates that approximately 28% of the employees of the Metropolitan Government live outside of Davidson County; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Board of Public Education, the Nashville Electric Service, the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, and the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency are established by the Metropolitan Charter but are autonomous from the Metropolitan Government in terms of operation and hiring practices; and
WHEREAS, in order to determine the net economic impact that out-of-county employees are having on the Metropolitan Government, it is necessary for the Council to obtain certain information from the various departments and agencies included in the Metropolitan Charter regarding out-of-county employees; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that information regarding the number, title, and salary of employees living outside of Davidson County be provided by the Metropolitan Board of Education, the Nashville Electric Service, the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, and the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency in order to determine the economic impact upon the Metropolitan Government.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education, the Nashville Electric Service, the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, and the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency to provide the Council with information regarding the number, title, and salary of employees living outside of Davidson County.
Section 2. The
Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to
Pedro Garcia, the Director of Schools; to Donald Kohanski, the President and
CEO of Nashville Electric Service; to Raul L. Regalado, the President and CEO
of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority; and to Phil Ryan, the Executive
Director of the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the
welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring
it.
