RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-131


A resolution recognizing Jeremy David Sledge.


WHEREAS, Jeremy Sledge, was born on April 4, 1991, is a lifetime resident of Nashville, Tennessee, a student at Ezell-Harding Christian School and he enjoys karate, hockey, camping and traveling; and

WHERAS, this Black Belt Martial Artist, founded the Foresters Kick-A-Thon that annually hold Kick-A-Thons to raises money for Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital; and

WHEREAS, these Kick-A-Thons challenge martial artists to get pledges and then they come together and see how many karate kicks they can perform, last year Jeremy did over 4,500 kicks; and

WHEREAS, his efforts garnered over $5,000.00 as he seeks to raise public awareness for such a worthy cause by continuing to seek pledges and donations for the Children’s Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Jeremy is the coordinator between the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and local Martial Arts Schools; and

WHEREAS, Jeremy is a tireless volunteer who has participated in the Children’s Miracle Network, Bowling for Miracles, Math-a-thon for St. Jude’s and Second Harvest Food Bank; and

WHEREAS, Jeremy quietly shares his success through acts of great generosity and compassion benefiting others in need; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Jeremy David Sledge for his tireless service to the community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Jeremy David Sledge.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Jeremy David Sledge.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
