RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-89


A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority to examine the number and location of security cameras at the Nashville International Airport, and to install additional cameras where necessary.


WHEREAS, the terrorist events of September 11, 2001, have heightened the awareness of the flying public regarding the safety and security of our nations’ airports; and

WHEREAS, security cameras play a vital role in ensuring the safety of airport patrons by assisting in the prevention of terrorist and other illegal activity; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority is responsible for the operation of the Nashville International Airport – BNA facility; and

WHEREAS, it is essential that the Nashville International Airport have adequate security cameras to protect the safety of the airport patrons, especially in the baggage area; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the use of security cameras at the Nashville International Airport be examined to determine if additional cameras are necessary to protect the safety of the citizens and visitors of Nashville, Tennessee.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority to examine the number and location of security cameras at the Nashville International Airport, and to install additional cameras where necessary.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority and to Raul L. Regalado, the President and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
