RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-87


A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Planning Commission to amend its property identification maps to reflect the name change of a private lake on property owned by Stonewall Jackson located on Cloverland Drive from “Apple Lake” to “Lake Waterloo”.


WHEREAS, Stonewall Jackson is the owner of real property located on Cloverland Drive containing a private lake; and

WHEREAS, said private lake is identified on the property identification maps as “Apple Lake; and

WHEREAS, Stonewall Jackson is a successful country music artist with the distinction of having had a top ten record in Billboard’s chart during the 1950’s, 1960’s, and 1970’s; and

WHEREAS, Stonewall Jackson is the only previously unknown artist to ever be signed to the Grand Ole Opry roster without first having a recording contract; and

WHEREAS, Stonewall Jackson went on to record for Columbia Records for 18 years yielding 50 national chart singles, including his most famous song “Waterloo”; and

WHEREAS, Stonewall Jackson has renamed the lake on his private property from “Apple Lake” to “Lake Waterloo”; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Planning Commission will not amend the property identification maps to reflect this name change without an appropriate resolution of the Metropolitan Council.


NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:


Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Planning Commission to amend its property identification maps to reflect the name change of a private lake located on property owned by Stonewall Jackson located on Cloverland Drive, as shown on the map attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, from “Apple Lake” to “Lake Waterloo”.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Metropolitan Planning Commission.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
