RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-50

A resolution recognizing Coach Sam Smith.

WHEREAS, Sam Smith is Head Coach of not only the Whites Creek High School Girls Track but the Continental T-Belles Track Club; and

WHEREAS, Coach Smith graduated from Tennessee State University and is a role model for youth and a pillar in the Nashville community; and

WHEREAS, under Coach Smith’s leadership, guidance and direction, he has turned both these exceptional groups into premier programs; and

WHEREAS, Coach Smith has taken the Continental T-Belles, young ladies throughout Nashville and the surrounding cities that range in ages from 8 -18, to national competitions sanctioned by the USA Track and Field Association; and

WHEREAS, participants are afforded the opportunity to receive scholarship to universities across the country; and

WHEREAS, Coach Smith has enjoyed an impressive career during his tenure; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Coach Sam Smith as an exemplary individual who is a credit to his profession and community, and extend to him our best wishes for continued success.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Coach Sam Smith.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Coach Sam Smith.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
