RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-2


A resolution proclaiming October 16, 2003, as “Maxine Day” in Nashville.


WHEREAS, on Thursday, October 16, 2003, the Davidson County Democratic Women take great pride in honoring Maxine Roberts at there annual Women’s Day celebration for her lifetime of supporting the spirit, goals and nominees of the Democratic Party; and

WHEREAS, Maxine Roberts has served the Democratic Party in various capacities on the county, state, and national level and as a delegate to several state and national conventions; and

WHEREAS, Maxine Roberts served on the board of the National Conference of State Legislative Leadership Staff and coordinated a National Lt. Governor’s Conference, as well as a Southern Legislative Conference; and

WHEREAS, she is a member of the Women’s Political Caucus and serves on the board of Tennessee Leadership; and

WHEREAS, this remarkable lady has a zest for life, a willingness to help other women, a mentor to many young women encouraging them to run for political office and continues to be a trailblazer for women; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Maxine Roberts on “Maxine Day”.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as proclaiming October 16, 2003, as “Maxine Day” in Nashville.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Maxine Roberts.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
