RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-13

A resolution approving a grant from the State of Tennessee, Tennessee Arts Commission to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Arts Commission for general operating support.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Tennessee Arts Commission, has awarded Grant No. Z-04-017213-00 in an amount not to exceed fifty five thousand dollars ($55,000) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Arts Commission for general operating support; and

Whereas, Metropolitan Code of Laws §2.112.040(G) allows the Metropolitan Arts Commission to accept funds from other arts organizations by resolution of the Metropolitan Council; and

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Tennessee Arts Commission and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Arts Commission, for general operating support, in an amount not to exceed fifty five thousand dollars ($55,000) a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan County Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the sum of fifty five thousand dollars ($55,000) be provided for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government’s in kind matching share for the program.

Section 3. That the amount of this grant is hereby appropriated to the Nashville Arts Commission in the current fiscal year budget, based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Amendment No. 1
To
Resolution No. RS2003-13

Mr. President:

I move to amend Resolution No. RS2003-13 by deleting Section 2 in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following new Section 2:

“Section 2. That the sum of fifty-five thousand dollars ($55,000) be provided from the operating budget of the Metropolitan Arts Commission for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government’s required share of matching funds for this grant.”
