RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-120

A resolution approving a grant not to exceed $250,000 from the Rockefeller Foundation to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Nashville Career Advancement Center (NCAC), to improve the capacity of Nashville’s non-profits to provide workforce development services to poor and disenfranchised job seekers, and appropriating those funds and $150,000 in local matching funds to the appropriate funds for this purpose.

Whereas, the Rockefeller Foundation has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Nashville Career Advancement Center, to improve the capacity of Nashville’s non-profits to provide workforce development services to poor and disenfranchised job seekers; and

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted and funds appropriated to the appropriate revenue fund.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Metropolitan Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant not to exceed two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) from the Rockefeller Foundation to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Nashville Career Advancement Center, to improve the capacity of Nashville’s non-profits to provide workforce development services to poor and disenfranchised job seekers, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the amount of this grant and one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) in local matching funds is hereby appropriated from the NCAC budget to the appropriate revenue fund in the current fiscal year budget based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
