RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-12

A resolution authorizing the Mayor to submit an application for the Early Learning Opportunities Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Mayor’s Office of Children and Youth.

Whereas, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is accepting applications for the Early Learning Opportunities Grant Programs to promote kindergarten readiness in Davidson County; and,

Whereas, the Mayor’s Office of Children and Youth is eligible to participate in the grant program; and,

Whereas, the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services requires that the grant application be approved by resolution, motion, or similar act of the applicant’s governing body; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted; and,

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to submit an application for the Early Learning Opportunities Grant Programs to promote kindergarten readiness in Davidson County, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
