SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1371
A resolution requesting all citizens of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson
County to meditate or pray daily for peace in Iraq, for the well-being
of all U.S. servicemen and servicewomen, and if war must come that it
be just.
WHEREAS, war between the
United States and Iraq is imminent; and
WHEREAS, the lives and well being of many residents and citizens of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County will be placed in danger by this war.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That, based on their personal preference, all citizens of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County are hereby called upon to meditate or pray daily for the following:
Peace in Iraq.
For the well-being of all U.S. servicemen and service women.
And if this war must come, that it be just.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

AMENDMENT NO. 1
TO
SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1371
Mr. President:
I move to amend Substitute Resolution No. RS2003-1371 by deleting the phrase
“, and if war must come that it be just”, wherein it appears in the caption of the
Resolution, and deleting the phrase “c. And if this war must come, that it be just.”,
wherein it appears in Section 1.
