SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-846

A substitute resolution requesting the Mayor and the Director of the Public Works Department to determine the cost to restore Second Avenue North, between Broadway and Public Square, to a one-way street.

WHEREAS, traffic flow and business opportunities were better served on Second Avenue North, between Broadway and Public Square, when the traffic flow was one-way running north; and

WHEREAS, the change to a two-way street by the Traffic & Parking Commission has not enhanced the area or improved traffic congestion; and

WHEREAS, the Traffic and Parking Commission has recommended the street be restored to one-way for traffic.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Mayor and the Director of the Public Works Department to determine the cost to restore Second Avenue North, between Broadway and Public Square, to a one-way street.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor and to the Director of the Public Works Department.

SECTION 3. That the Mayor and the Director of the Public Works Department are further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 thereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
