SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-133

A substitute resolution requesting the Metropolitan Board of Health to honor the deceased Metro Police K-9 Unit dogs Ingo and Aron or provide an appropriate memorial for these dogs at the new facility.

WHEREAS, in August 1986 during a bank robbery, Ingo, a Metro Police K-9 Unit dog, was killed; and

WHEREAS, in May 1998 while attempting to apprehend a bank robbery suspect, Aron, also a Metro Police K-9 Unit dog, was killed; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to honor the memory of these animals, who made the supreme sacrifice for our community, by honoring these animals at the new animal control facility.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Board of Health to honor the deceased Metro Police K-9 Unit dogs Ingo and Aron or provide an appropriate memorial for these dogs at the new facility.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Director of Health and to the members of the Metropolitan Board of Health.

SECTION 3. That the Director of Health and the Board of Health are further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 thereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
