RESOLUTION NO. RS99-83

A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Department of Law to compromise and settle the claim of James K. McKenzie against certain Metropolitan police officers for an amount not to exceed $30,000.00 and directing that this amount be paid from the judgment and losses liability account.

Whereas, on July 27, 1995, James K. McKenzie, was involved in an altercation with several police officers wherein Mr. McKenzie sustained personal injuries; and,

Whereas, after investigation, the Department of Law believes that the settlement listed in Section 1 is fair and reasonable and in the best interest of the Metropolitan Government, and recommends that the claim be compromised and settled, and that this amount be paid from the Judgment and Losses Liability Account.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: The Metropolitan Department of Law is authorized to compromise and settle the claim of James K. McKenzie in an amount not to exceed $30,000. Said amount shall be paid from the Judgment and Losses Liability Account.

Section 2: This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
