RESOLUTION NO. RS99-74

A resolution electing Dr. Gadson Jack Tarleton, Jr., to the Board of Directors of the Health and Educational Facilities Board of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee.

WHEREAS, this council has heretofore authorized, approved and confirmed the establishment of The Health and Educational Facilities Board of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee, and elected the members of the Board of Directors thereof; and

WHEREAS, Section 48-3-307 Tennessee Code Annotated, as amended, provides that all members of said Board of Directors shall be elected by this governing body; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Gadson Jack Tarleton, Jr., has been nominated for said position by Brenda Gilmore; and

WHEREAS, an election has been conducted pursuant to the Rules of Procedure of the council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County on December 21, 1999, which resulted in the election of Dr. Gadson Jack Tarleton, Jr., to said position.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. Dr. Gadson Jack Tarleton, Jr., who is not an officer or employee of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee, is hereby elected a director of The Health and Educational Facilities Board of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee, for a six year term ending September 30, 2005; provided, however, that if at the expiration of said term of office of such person a successor thereto shall not have been elected, then such person whose term has so expired shall nevertheless continue to hold office until a successor shall have been elected.

SECTION 2. All Resolutions and orders, or parts thereof, in conflict with the provisions of this Resolution, are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
