RESOLUTION NO. RS99-56

A resolution requesting the Mayor to attempt to find available funds to fund additional police officers this fiscal year.

WHEREAS, there is a growing need for additional police officers within the area of the Metropolitan Government to continue our efforts to provide for public safety and a lower crime rate; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that this Mayor use his best efforts and his leadership to find available funding to employ additional police officers and to start a police recruit academy class this fiscal year.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Mayor to attempt to find available funds to fund additional police officers this fiscal year.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor.

SECTION 3.  This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
