RESOLUTION NO. RS99-54

A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to name a school facility in honor of Vic Varallo.

WHEREAS, Mr. Vic Varallo served the youth of the area of the Metropolitan Public Education system for almost 40 years as an educator and coach; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Varallo served on the Metropolitan County Council for two terms beginning in 1991 through the 1999 term; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to name a school facility in honor of Mr. Vic Varallo in recognition of his outstanding service as an educator, coach and community leader.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to name a school facility in honor of Mr. Vic Varallo.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Board of Public Education.

SECTION 3. That the Board of Public Education is further requested to inform the Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 hereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

RESOLUTION NO. RS99-54

Mr. President:

I move to amend Resolution No. RS99-54 by adding the following phrase after the words "school facility" wherein they appear in the Caption, the third Recital Clause, and in Section 1 thereof:

", except for a school building,"
