RESOLUTION NO. RS99-52

A resolution declaring the week of November 3-10, 1999, as "Women Veterans Recognition Week".

WHEREAS, throughout the history of our nation the women of America have shown a commitment to patriotism; and

WHEREAS, women have served in the defense of this great country; and

WHEREAS, to express our gratitude and to honor those women who have served in the various branches of the armed forces of the United States and to encourage future generations of women to make similar commitments to our country, it is fitting and proper that we declare the week of November 3-10, 1999, as "Women Veterans Recognition Week".

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as declaring the week of November 3-10, 1999, as "Women Veterans Recognition Week".

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to a representative of the TFWC Brandywine Woman’s Club of Old Hickory.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
