RESOLUTION NO. RS99-5

A resolution requesting the Department of Public Works to permit household hazardous waste disposition by all residents of Davidson County on any day of operation regardless of zip code.

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works operates a Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 943 Dr. Richard Adams Drive to accept household hazardous waste for appropriate disposal; and

WHEREAS, this facility operates on Saturdays, however, participation for use is limited to residents according to zip code; and

WHEREAS, it would be fitting and appropriate that the facility be available for use by all residents of Davidson County on every Saturday.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby requests the Department of Public Works to allow all residents of Davidson County to participate in use of the Household Hazardous Waste Facility regardless of their zip code, and that the facility be open for all residents on all days that it is in operation.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Director of the Public Works Department.

SECTION 3. That the Director of the Public Works Department is further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section One hereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

RESOLUTION NO. RS99-5

Mr. President:

I move to amend Resolution No. RS99-5 by amending Section 1 thereof by adding the following phrase at the end of the first sentence:

"effective January 1, 2000."
