RESOLUTION NO. RS99-42

A resolution recognizing "East Nashville Community Outreach Day".

WHEREAS, the second annual "East Nashville Community Outreach Day" was celebrated on Saturday, October 2, 1999, at the King Temple Church on Lischey Avenue; and

WHEREAS, the "East Nashville Community Outreach Day" began two years ago as an opportunity to bring unity, restoration and encouragement to the residents of East Nashville; and

WHEREAS, the "East Nashville Community Outreach Day" played a vital role in making the East Nashville community aware of crime prevention, drug awareness and family enrichment opportunities to infuse hope and wisdom for the future; and

WHEREAS, this was an exciting event for the entire community featuring keynote speakers, good food, and special events for the whole family; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes October 2, 1999, as "East Nashville Community Outreach Day".

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing "East Nashville Community Outreach Day".

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is requested to prepare a certificate to be presented to both Elder Larry Britton and Evangelist Ruby Smith, Director of the Outreach Department, on behalf of the members of the King Temple Church.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
