RESOLUTION NO. RS99-40

A resolution honoring Ms. Terry Kimbro on being named the "H. C. Hardy Volunteer of the Year" by the Metropolitan Beautification & Environment Commission.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Beautification & Environment Commission has named Terry Kimbro as the "H. C. Hardy Volunteer of the Year"; and

WHEREAS, this award is named for H. C. Hardy who served as Chairman on the commission in the early 1990’s and exemplified qualities of a dedicated and outstanding volunteer; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Kimbro has served on the Beautification & Environment Commission for five years and as a result of her efforts working with Wal-Mart to provide a more environmentally friendly shopping area by preserving the trees from the site and returning them to the property to provide a walking trail and recreational facilities at the new Super Wal-Mart site; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Kimbro served at Chairman of the Mayor’s Task Force on Graffiti; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Kimbro has brought her skills and dedication to the Metropolitan Beautification & Environment Commission and was appointed liaison with the state and national Keep America Beautiful affiliates; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Ms. Kimbro for exemplifying dedicated service as an outstanding volunteer for our community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVENRMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring Ms. Terry Kimbro on being named the "H. C. Hardy Volunteer of the Year" by the Metropolitan Beautification & Environment Commission.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Ms. Terry Kimbro.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
