RESOLUTION NO. RS99-38

A resolution honoring The Metropolitan Fire Department on gaining accreditation.

WHEREAS, on Sunday, August 29, 1999, in Kansas City, Missouri, the Metropolitan Fire Department was awarded accreditation status; and

WHEREAS, Chief Norman "Buck" Dozier, accepted on behalf of the Metropolitan Fire Department, this accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International; and

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Fire Department is the first and largest Metropolitan Fire Department in the United States to receive this achievement; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the Metropolitan Fire Department for their hard work in achieving accreditation for the City of Nashville and for reaching this milestone.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring The Metropolitan Fire Department on gaining accreditation.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to the Metropolitan Fire Department for this recognition.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
