RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1596
A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Mayor to submit an application for
the U.S. Homeland Security Grant Program and accepting the award upon
approval of the grant contracts by the Departments of Finance and Law.
Whereas, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is accepting applications
for the U.S. Homeland Security Grant Program Part 2 in the amount of one
million seven hundred nine thousand six hundred seventy three dollars ($1,709,673);
and,
Whereas, the Metropolitan Office of Emergency Management is eligible to participate in the grant program; and,
Whereas, the Federal Government requires that the grant application be approved by resolution, motion, or similar act of the applicant’s governing body; and,
Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.
Now, therefore be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to submit an application for the U.S. Homeland Security Grant Program Part 2 in the amount of one million seven hundred nine thousand six hundred seventy three dollars ($1,709,673), a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein.
Section 2. That any subsequent grant award shall be deemed accepted and approved if the Metropolitan Departments of Finance and Law approve the grant contracts.
Section 3. That the amount of this grant is hereby appropriated to the Office of Emergency Management to cover operations from May 1, 2003 through April 30, 2004, based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Mr. President:
I move to amend Resolution No. RS2003-1596 by deleting Section 2 and Section 3 in their entirety, and by renumbering Section 4 as Section 2.
