RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1594

A resolution accepting a grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, through the Economic Development Initiative Program to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for the revitalization of the Rolling Mill Hill site located within the Rutledge Hill Redevelopment area and authorizing the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency to act on behalf of the City in administration of this grant.

Whereas, the U.S. Congress directed the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide funding to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, pursuant to the VA-HUD- Independent Agencies Appropriations Act of FY 2003 (PL-108-7) under the Economic Development Initiative Program; and

Whereas, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed eight hundred and forty-four thousand four hundred and seventy-five dollars ($844,475) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for the proposed Rolling Mill Hill site revitalization; and

Whereas, the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, pursuant to Ordinance BL2003-1513, has authorized the disposition of the property commonly known as Rolling Mill Hill to the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency for redevelopment purposes as a mixed use development and to provide housing opportunities in downtown Nashville and return the property to the tax rolls of the county; and

Whereas, the Grant funds are to be used for the redevelopment of Rolling Mill Hill; and

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Metropolitan Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant by and between the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for the revitalization of the Rolling Mill Hill site, in an amount not to exceed eight hundred and forty-four thousand four hundred and seventy-five dollars ($844,475), a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency is hereby authorized to administer the grant on behalf of the Mayor and the City, with no required local match of funds.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
