RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1580


A resolution approving an agreement between the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for reimbursement of funds expended for litter pickup.

Whereas, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 41-2-123, provides that the Commissioner of Transportation is authorized to make grants to the several counties of the State for the purpose of funding programs for the collection of litter and trash along the county, state and interstate roads and highways within the respective counties; and

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, has awarded Grant No. CHB1161 in an amount not to exceed two hundred fifty four thousand five hundred dollars ($254,500) to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for reimbursement of funds expended for litter and trash pickup within Davidson County; and

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by The Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: That the grant between the State of Tennessee by and for its Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated § 41-2-123, for litter and trash pickup along certain routes within Davidson County in an amount not to exceed two hundred fifty four thousand five hundred dollars ($254,500) is hereby approved, and the Mayor is authorized to execute same.

Section 2. That the amount of this grant is hereby appropriated to the Office of the Sheriff in the current fiscal year budget, based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3: That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its enactment, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
