RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1577

A resolution approving an amendment to a contract between the State of Tennessee Department of Health and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health for the provision of health research studies using data supplied by the Tennessee Department of Health.

WHEREAS, the State desires to modify the confidentiality provisions of the current contract, in part, to conform to the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA),

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: That amendment no. 1 to the contract between the State of Tennessee Department of Health and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, for the provision of health research studies using data supplied by the Tennessee Department of Health, which amendment is attached hereto and incorporated herein, be and the same is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute said amendment.

Section 2: That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
