RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1560

A resolution declaring the intersection of Jefferson Street with Dr. D. B. Todd Boulevard as “Otey’s Corner”.

WHEREAS, there has been a commitment by the Metropolitan Government and the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency to attempt to revitalize the Jefferson Street area; and

WHEREAS, historic Fisk University and Tennessee State University have been vital contributors to these efforts to enhance the Jefferson Street area; and

WHEREAS, Otey’s Real Estate Agency at 2701 Jefferson Street has been an integral part of these efforts for many years, having made a substantial commitment to making the Jefferson Street area a progressive and beneficial economic area; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that Otey’s Real Estate Agency be recognized for this continuing commitment to the economic improvement of Jefferson Street.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as declaring the intersection of Jefferson Street with Dr. D. B. Todd Boulevard as “Otey’s Corner”.

SECTION 2. The Council further commends John Otey, Jr., and John Otey, III for their efforts in this revitalization of the Jefferson Street area.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
