RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1546

A resolution approving a contract between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the State of Tennessee, acting by and through its Department of Transportation, concerning the addition of certain enhancements to be implemented during the painting phase of the Victory Memorial Bridge on SR 6, Local Project No. 2000461.

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, in recognition of the benefits to be received from the addition of certain enhancements to be implemented during the painting phase of the Victory Memorial Bridge on SR 6 to be done by the State of Tennessee in State Project No. 19023-4213-04, desires to cooperate with the Tennessee Department of Transportation; and

WHEREAS, Under the attached contract, the Tennessee Department of Transportation agrees to amend its existing Contract No. CNB031 for the repair of the Victory Memorial Bridge on SR 6 (US 31E), further described as being over the Cumberland River and Gay Street at LM 9.74, to include the painting enhancements requested by the Metropolitan Government; and

WHEREAS, The State Government has allocated funds in the amount of $123,987.50 for the following project:

Local Project No. 2000461
Nashville, Davidson County.

WHEREAS, It is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this contract be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLTAN COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Contract between the State of Tennessee, acting by and through its Department of Transportation and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County providing for the addition of certain enhancements to be implemented during the painting phase of the Victory Memorial Bridge on SR 6 to be done by the State of Tennessee, through Local Project No. 2000461 (a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference) is hereby approved.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute future agreements necessary for the implementation and completion of Local Project No. 2000461, which agreements shall become binding on the Metropolitan Government upon ratification by Resolution supported by 21 affirmative votes of the Metropolitan Council.

SECTION 3. That the Metropolitan Government is authorized to provide funds for Local Project No. 2000461 amounting to $123,987.50 from Fund 40233 BU 42402800.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
