RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1530


A resolution approving a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the Victims of Crime Act Victim Assistance Grant Project.


Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs, has awarded a grant for a term of July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2006, in an amount not to exceed one hundred fifty eight thousand eight hundred fourteen ($158,814) dollars to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the Victims of Crime Act Victim Assistance Grant Project; and

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs, for a term of July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2006, in an amount not to exceed one hundred fifty eight thousand eight hundred fourteen ($158,814) dollars which shall be paid in increments of fifty two thousand nine hundred thirty eight ($52,938) dollars per year, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the Victims of Crime Act Victim Assistance Grant Project, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan County Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the sum of thirteen thousand two hundred thirty four ($13,234) dollars be provided each year for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government’s in kind matching share for the program.

Section 3. That the amount of this grant is hereby appropriated to the Office of the District Attorney General in the current fiscal year budget, based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
