RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1513


A resolution repealing Resolution Nos. 73-728, 75-1405, and R88-167 to eliminate the monthly expense account for Members of Council.


WHEREAS, a monthly expense account for Members of Council was established pursuant to Resolution No. 73-728, which provided for a monthly reimbursement of expenses up to $150.00; and

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 73-728 was subsequently amended by Resolution No. 75-1405 to require that requests for reimbursement of expenses be submitted not later than thirty days after the end of the month during which the expenses were incurred; and

WHEREAS, Resolution No. R88-167 increased the monthly expense account for Members of Council from $150.00 to $450.00; and

WHEREAS, part of the recommendation of the Civil Service Commission regarding an amendment to the general pay plan consists of an increase in salary for Members of Council in the amount of $8,100 and eliminating the monthly expense account; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary that the legislation providing for the Council monthly expense account be repealed prior to any amendment to the general pay plan incorporating this recommendation from the Civil Service Commission becoming effective.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Resolution Nos. 73-728, 75-1405, and R88-167, which provide for the monthly expense account for Members of Council, are hereby repealed.

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect September 1, 2003, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
