WHEREAS, organizations such as The Ingram Foundation, St. Thomas Foundation, Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Greenways of Nashville, White Bridge Road Neighborhood Association, Cherokee Park Neighborhood Association, Sylvan Park Neighborhood Association, Richland West End Neighborhood Association, Lions Head Condo Owners Association, Mr. Lyle Key of the CSX Corporation, CSX Corporation, Dr. George Van Allen of Nashville Tech. Community College and St. Mary’s Villa are instrumental in helping propose and develop the creation of the Richland Creek Greenway; and

WHEREAS, Greenways are linear parks and trails which connect neighborhoods to shopping areas, offices, recreation facilities and other points of activity and there development is unquestionably beneficial for the quality of the environment, economic development, and the health of citizens; and

WHEREAS, the Richland Creek Greenway will connect the neighborhoods of Sylvan Park and Cherokee Park with the shopping centers, entertainment areas and schools along White Bridge Road; and

WHEREAS, the first segment of trails along this two-mile greenway are to be constructed in the Fall of 2003 to provide a scenic, natural experience in the midst of a bustling community; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes all those involved with the Richland Creek Greenway.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing those who have helped make the Richland Creek Greenway possible.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to The Ingram Foundation, St. Thomas Foundation, Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Greenways of Nashville, White Bridge Road Neighborhood Association, Cherokee Park Neighborhood Association, Sylvan Park Neighborhood Association, Richland West End Neighborhood Association, Lions Head Condo Owners Association, Mr. Lyle Key of the CSX Corporation, CSX Corporation, Dr. George Van Allen of Nashville Tech. Community College and St. Mary’s Villa.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
