RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1509


A resolution recognizing the Nashville School of the Arts Early Music Consort for their outstanding success in the field of music.


WHEREAS, the Nashville School of the Arts Early Music Consort is the only ensemble of its kind in the entire country on the high school level; and

WHEREAS, the Nashville School of the Arts Early Music Consort, on April 5, 2003, won the Sweepstakes Award at the Orlando Music Festival for best ensemble including choral music, orchestra, and band; and

WHEREAS, the Nashville School of the Arts Early Music Consort received a superior rating for their fourth consecutive regional festival, having done so in Atlanta, St. Louis, Gatlinburg, and Orlando; and

WHEREAS, the Nashville School of the Arts Early Music Consort continues to be nationally recognized by choirs, directors and adjudicators, having brought honor not only to their school, but also to the city of Nashville and Davidson County and the state of Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, the students in the Early Music Consort continue to exhibit exemplary behavior performing at the highest levels of the choral music art; and

WHEREAS, Music Director, Michael Graham has used his knowledge of music to inspire students to achieve their musical goals; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the achievements of the Nashville School of the Arts Early Music Consort and the goodwill they have bestowed on the community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as the Nashville School of the Arts Early Music Consort for their outstanding success in the field of music.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Michael Graham, Music Director, on behalf of the Nashville School of the Arts Early Music Consort students.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
