RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1502
A resolution recognizing Dr. Greg Patterson on being selected as the 2003 National
Distinguished Principal for the state of Tennessee.
WHEREAS, Dr. Greg Patterson, principal of Dodson Elementary School will represent
the state of Tennessee this fall in Washington D.C. to accept the National
Distinguished Principal award; and
WHEREAS, the National Distinguished Principal award was conceived as a way to recognize excellence among elementary and middle school principals in the nation; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Patterson was nominated by the Tennessee Association of Elementary and Middle School Principals Organization; and
WHEREAS, a Tennessee native, and a graduate of the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System, Dr. Greg Patterson earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master’s of Educational Administration Degree from Middle Tennessee State University before obtaining his Doctorate of Education from Tennessee State University; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Patterson’s has served more than twenty-five years in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System which includes service as a teacher at Chadwell, H.G.Hill, and Lakewood Elementary schools, assistant principal at Lakewood and at Una Elementary, and principal at Crieve Hall Elementary, Una and Dodson; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Dr. Greg Patterson for his accomplishments which resulted in him being named the 2003 National Distinguished Principal in Tennessee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Dr. Greg Patterson on being selected as the 2003 National Distinguished Principal for the state of Tennessee.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Dr. Greg Patterson.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
