RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1482


A resolution approving a second amendment to a grant between the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department, for the Governor’s Highway Safety Program.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, has awarded Grant No. 154AL-02-14 in an amount not to exceed one million two hundred twenty one thousand two hundred seventy four dollars ($1,221,274) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, which is designed to reduce traffic related crash fatalities with special emphasis on overtime enforcement involving alcohol or drug impaired drivers and such grant was approved and accepted by The Metropolitan Council by ordinance (Bill No. BL2002-1026); and,

Whereas, the parties, by mutual agreement, amended the grant contract to extend the term to three years and change the mileage reimbursement for travel and such amendment was approved by Metropolitan Council by resolution no. RS2002-1109;and

Whereas, the parties, by mutual agreement, wish to further amend the grant contract by extending the term from May 1, 2003 to October 1, 2003; and

Whereas, Bill No. BL2002-1026 provided that amendments to the Grant may be approved by Resolution by the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes;

Whereas, it is deemed to be in the best interest of The Metropolitan Government that this amendment to the contract be approved.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by The Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the amendment to the Grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, which amendment provides extends the grant term from May 1, 2003 to October 1, 2003, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
