RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1478


A resolution requesting the Department of Public Health to purchase a mobile spay/neuter van using the funds appropriated for that purpose by Resolution No. RS2002-1182.


WHEREAS, Resolution No. RS2002-1182, adopted by the Council on October 16, 2002, appropriated $120,730 from the general fund reserve fund (4% fund) to the Department of Public Health to purchase a mobile spay/neuter van; and

WHEREAS, this mobile spay/neuter unit will have a positive impact on controlling the unwanted pet population in Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, although the funds have been appropriated for this purchase, the Department of Public Health has not yet ordered the mobile spay unit; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Department of Public Health proceed with ordering this mobile spay/neuter van.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Department of Public Health of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to purchase a mobile spay/neuter van using the funds appropriated for that purpose by Resolution No. RS2002-1182.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this resolution to the director of the Department of Public Health for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

Section 3. That the Director of the Department of Public Health is requested to inform the Metropolitan Council in writing of the actions taken in compliance with the request in Section 1 hereof not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this resolution.

Section 4. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
